Adopt Me LinkPicture of Crissy

Meet Crissy!

Chrissy was dumped at a local shelter because she had a taste for chickens. Her owners didn't come to get her, so HHBR was called and we came and got her. Because of her love for the taste of chickens we would recommend a "chickenless" home for her.

Chrissy is about ~3 years old, spayed and up-to-date on her vaccinations. She is microchipped and heartworm free.

Chrissy's foster family had this to say about her, Chrissy is an angel. She is very sweet and craves affection and attention. She is house trained. Chrissy needs a family with time for her. In return she will give back lots of love.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Matilda

Introducing Matilda

Matty was surrendered by her owners to HHBR. She was born 6/27/2005, so she just over three years old. She weighs 44 lbs. and is up-to-date on her vaccinations, is microchipped and tested negative for heartworms.

Matilda loves to chase squirrels and loves to be cuddled. She gets along with the other dogs in her foster home. Her foster mom had this to say about her, "She is a very sweet girl. She has a thinner coat than other bassets we have had, so she does seem to get cold. She loves to burrow underneath the covers on our bed and she loves to cuddle and be held. She really is a sweet and loving dog. She even has some funny grunts and noises she makes even when she is sound asleep. She snores periodically like every basset. We have been very impressed at how sweet and just overll good she is."

Matty needs a home with lots of love and attention and a yard to run and play in.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Dave and Axel

Meet Dave and Axel

Dave and Axel are basset mixes, but what cuties! They are ~1 year old and full of all that wonderful puppiness that makes being with them a joy. They are bonded and will need to be adopted together.

Both are neutered, heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccinations and microchippped.

This is a note from their foster mom about them, "I just wanted to let you know that they are just fine, eating and chewing their bones, and running and playing with my two. They haven’t given us a moment’s trouble, and they are doing very well with going to the yard with our two to do their business. Whoever adopts these two is going to get two very sweet and very affectionate hounds. They are just adorable and they both love, love, love to be loved." They’ll need a yard to play in and an active family.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Frankie

This is Frankie!

Frankie had a family, but they couldn't keep him. Frankie is ~5 years old and weighs 44 lbs, he is the 17th dog with heartworms that we've had this year. So right now he's a laid back basset, as he is in heartworm treatment and has restricted activity. Frankie is a good dog, and loves being with people and would love to go for walks and explore; but for now he is a housebound hound.

Frankie likes being with people and came from a family with small children. He would play more, if allowed. He is housetrained. Frankie is sometimes over-protective of his food. His foster family is working with him on that and he is doing very well. His foster mom says, Frankie is doing well with us and is still appreciative of being rescued and sleeping on soft dog (and sometimes human) beds. Frankie needs a home where he will be part of the family.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Chloe

Meet Chloe!

What a great name for such a wonderful, precious basset. Chloe is ~7 years old and is a real sweet girl. She strayed from her original home, but when animal control contacted them, they didn't want to be bother with her! So poor Chloe is looking for a new family that will love and care for her.

She is very laid-back and loves to get loved-on! She was a bit whiney when she first went to her foster home, but has gotten lots better. She likes to play with the other dogs -- will run around for a while, then take a nap! Chloe is a snorer! She also likes to play with the dog toys. She is housebroken with a doggy door. In her foster home she does well with older children (12 years). She hasn't been around younger children, but we think she would be fine with them.

Chloe weighs 43 pounds and is a tri-color basset. She has been spay, had her teeth cleaned, and tested negative for heartworms. If you're looking for a typical laid-back basset, Chloe is the dog for you!

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Harry

Meet Harry!

Harry came from an area shelter where he was picked up as a stray. He's about 2 years old and is underweight at 46 lbs. He is being treated for hookworms and Guardia (which would explain his being underweight). Unfortunately, Harry is heartworm positive and will start his treatment Nov. 17.

He is a playful guy and loves to go for walks and play in the yard. While in treatment he will need to have restricted activity, but once he's recovered he'd do best in an active home. Harry has a lot of love to give and will make a wonderful companion.

Harry is the 17th case of hw disease that HHBR has had this year. If you would like to contribute to his medical bills please click on the PayPal icon below.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Muppet

This is Muppet.

Muppet was returned to HHBR when her adopter had to move out of state to care for an ill relative. Muppet is ~5-6 years old. She is spayed and up-to-date on her shots and has been microchipped. Muppet is a little taller than most bassets, but she has a basset heart and loves to be petted. She weighs 42 lbs.

Muppet likes people, but she can be skittish. Ordinary noises, like the refrigerator starting up, can startle her. She is currently living with another foster dog and they get along famously. She needs a family with patience that will not leave her alone for long periods of time and have time to spend with her.
Muppet originally came from a local shelter and was adopted from HHBR in January of 2008. She was a stray before she came to the shelter and we have no information about that time in her life. When corrected she cowers, so we think she was possibly mistreated before she arrived at the shelter. Muppet has a lot of love to give and needs a family to call her own.
