Adopt Me LinkPicture of Hush Puppy

Meet Hush Puppy!

Hush Puppy is an adorable loving basset who needs a home to call his own. He is ~1 year old, neutered, tri-colored, male. He weighs 38 lbs and may still grow a bit. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations and in good health.
Hush Puppy is young and would do well with an active family who will run and play with him. He really likes other dogs and seems to really like beagles, so if you have a beagle he might be the dog for you. He will need some basic training and needs to learn to walk on a leash. The vet describes Hush Puppy as a sweet, sweet, sweet dog.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Fred

Say hello to Fred!

Fred came from the same shelter as Maggie. He is ~2 years old, maybe 3. He's active and fun but has a quiet side as most bassets do. Fred likes to explore new places and go for long walks -- followed by long naps. The vet said the only problem he had while examining Fred was that Fred kept rolling over on his back for belly rubs...sounds like a basset to us.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Winston

This is Winston!

Winston was given up by his owners because their child was allergic to him. Winston is a neuter male, ~4 years old, up-to-date on vaccinations and in good health. Winston is an easy going basset looking for a fun loving home. His favorite thing is to just be around his family. He likes to go for walks, but also enjoys just hanging out around the house.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Maggie

Meet Maggie!

Maggie came from a Dallas area shelter. She is ~4 years old, spay and up-to-date on vaccinations. Maggie isn't all basset but she's all fun! However, she is heartworm positive and is in treatment, but that shouldn't keep her from being adopted. Just ask us about her treatment. Maggie is full of energy and loves to romp and play -- for now she needs to be encouraged to not play so hard. Once her treatment is done, she'll be ready for almost anything. She likes people and plays well with other dogs.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Gabbie

Say hi to Gabbie!

Gabbie was an owner surrender, as her family couldn't keep her anymore. She is about 3 1/2 years old, a tri-color, spay female basset. She weighs 40 lbs and is up-to-date on her vaccinations. Gabbie is a bit anxious now as she's not sure what is happening. We think she'll come out of her shell once she gets accustomed to her new surroundings. She like being out of doors and loves to go for walks and explore new places. She is very sweet, playful and affectionate.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Shiloh

Meet Shiloh!

Shiloh was a stray whose owners never claimed him. He is a neutered male, up-to-date on vaccinations, unfortunately he tested positive for heartworms, but is being treated. He is a bit smaller basset but is all heart. His foster mom says that Shiloh is a good dog and does well with the other dogs in their home. Shiloh is housetrained and enjoys being outside, but prefers inside with you.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Melody

This is Melody!

Melody came from an area shelter where her owners had turned her in. She is ~2 years old, weighs 35 lbs. and is a red & white spay female. She is current on all her vaccinations and in good health.
Melody is one of our precious "Diva" dogs, she likes all the attention on her. We think she'd do best in a home where she is the only dog. She loves to cuddle and follow you around and would be a wonderful companion dog. She likes exploring but when being walked can object to other dogs being close to her. She loves her toys and likes to chase after them or toss them in air and catch them. Melody's foster mom says she is a real "snuggle bunny."

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Layla

Meet Layla!

Layla is a little bit older basset gal, but with lots of love to give. She is about 7 years old. She is spay and up-to-date on her vaccinations. Unfortunately she is heartworm positive and will be starting treatment this month.
She was surrendered by her family as they couldn’t keep her any more.
Layla gets along okay with other dogs, but would do fine as an only dog. She likes walks and enjoys being with you. She would be a good family dog for a family that wasn’t real active, she’s the poster dog for bassety laid-backness.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Truman

Truman is an expert at slipping his collar so he needs to be walked on a slip lead or with a halter. He gets along with other dogs and seems to enjoy being around people. he is a "talkative" basset and does need some basic training, but he's young and enthusiastic and looking for a family to call his own.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Harley

This is Harley!

Harley's story is a sad one. He was rescued by HHBR in 2004 as a pup and was adopted. But, in 2009 he was returned as his family couldn't keep him anymore. He was adopted in August of 2009; but he was recently returned due to lifestyle change for his family. Harley is about 5 years old, weighs 57 lbs., neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. He's not all basset, but don't hold that against him. He's a bit "taller" than a typical basset. We call them field bassets -- you know tall enough to see over the weeds in the field. Harley is a little timid at first, he's had a lot of changes in his life and he's not quite sure whats going on. The vet says he's a good dog, just not your typical outgoing basset. He likes the company of other dogs and wants to play and interact with them. He likes dogs treats and loves car rides. If you're looking for a dog that needs you and have time for him, Harley would be a good choice for you.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Betty

This is Betty!

Betty is a 40 lbs., spayed female, tricolor basset looking for a home. We're not sure about her age, the vet says 8 years but she acts much younger than that and says she has a lot of living left to do. She is a happy, happy, happy basset. She has a spring in her step and loves to go exploring. She never met a stranger and looks forward to walks. She also likes to chill out on the couch with you and just be near you.
Betty is up-to-date on her shots and tested negative for heartworms. The vet said she was all wiggly and wags while with them. She'll be getting her teeth cleaned ASAP and then will be ready for her forever home.
If you're looking for an older, more settled basset -- then Betty is the basset companion for you!
